Meet The Mclovins
The Mclovins are a Hartford Connecticut based band, consisting of 3 teenagers (Jeff Howard; Guitar, Jake Huffman; Drums and Jason Ott; Bass) who have caught the eye of jamband fans. Originally getting there name from a online message board; “PhantasyTour.com” The Mclovins met at a Jazz and Rock camp, with the talents they all possess, they put up a cover of the famous Phish song: “You Enjoy Myself” on Youtube.com, only to find the next day, they had 5000 views, and comments expressing the lover for the two 15 and 14 year olds. Soon, they were gigging at local venues, eventually getting there “big break” at Connecicuts famous jamband festival – “Gathering Of The Vibes” in 2009. They then moved onto scoring interviews at “Rolling Stone” and a article in “Relix Magazine”, both very well respected music magazines that got the band the exposure they deserved. Through out 2009, and now into 2010, the band has taken their playing, and “Super Fans” to new heights, and new venues, with no end in sight for the bands continuous expansion.
The Mclovins have played at venues in Boston, Connecicut, Upstate New York, New York City, Vermont, and New Hampshire, both headlining and opening up for acts such as Max Creek, The Brew, and even playing a few Phish preshows.
Jeff, Jake, and Jason have released a full album, and recently a EP. They’re first and only full album, Conundrum has blown the minds of all who have reviewed it, and has gotten great raves from music critics who have taken the time to enjoy it. Furthermore, they’re recent release is “The Virtual Circle EP”. Both are available on Itunes and they’re website.
The band is amazing live, they completely shred and give you that full live music vibe, I saw them at Sullivan Hall in New York City, and they surely delivered. I have made friends with this band since I checked them out on Youtube, now I have been giving them all I have to give, and in return get to keep up on what this band has accomplished. They are some of the most talented kids you will ever meet, and if you don’t believe me, check out the following videos: (In order from most recent to oldest)
